[Abk. LMDS, dt. »lokales Mehrpunktverteilungssystem«\], ein kapazitätsintensiver, drahtloser, fester Sprach- und Datenkommunikationsdienst mit zwei Wegen für über 500 Mbit/s. LMDS arbeitet mir Bandbreiten, wie sie bisher nur von Glasfasersystemen bekannt waren. Es handelt sich dabei um ein Mehrpunktzugangssystem auf Richtfunkbasis.
